Still a month behind?!

Yes, despite my best efforts, I continue to fall behind in keeping this blog updated!!! We are loving fall. I was THRILLED to pull out cozy sweaters and jeans for the kiddos and have been loving the mismatched layers of cotton, denim and wool knits as we head outside for playtime in the afternoons.

The boys are thoroughly enjoying preschool. This is a huge relief to me and it allows me to enjoy that time twice a week with Shea. They are still a bundle of energy, but it is more and more focused on little boys projects and activities. There are constant light saber duels, wrestling matches and chasing games. There are also, however, jigsaw puzzle marathons, board game afternoons and, my new favorite, kitchen table activities like story books and worksheets while listening to their very own Pandora radio station of Star Wars soundtrack music and other similar selections. LOVE IT. The other day, they literally sat at the table for two hours going through books and puzzles while I worked in the kitchen and returned phone calls. WOW!!!

Shea is a funny little bundle of energy, herself. She still chases the boys everyplace and is climbing nonstop. She's also increasing her vocabulary at a surprising rate. New favorite words include: dog, car, flower, fish, more and hot. I think it's so funny how she runs away as fast as she can after she's done something she knows she shouldn't have. She's still completely obsessed with babies and pictures of herself and brothers. She loves going down the slide like a big girl, but even more so if one of her brothers is behind her.

Jaxon, showing off a lego creation. He is started to show a bit more interest in Legos, which is especially fun since Dex has been obsessed forever!

I can count on one hand the number of times that the boys have spontaneously fallen asleep during the day. This was one of them. Jaxon was out cold and D.R. got the special treat of holding him while he slept. Better yet, was watching Shea go straight for his flip flops the second she realized he was asleep!
Daddy and Shea, sporting some great new looks.
The boys giving each other medical exams. Jax is the doctor, Dex is the patient.
More well-child visits...
I just REALLY like this photo of Jaxon. He was so happy that he was wearing his spiderman shirt. I think it's great that the boys are taking such an interest in the clothes they wear. I routinely have to take them through clothing departments when we're shopping so they can scout out new fashion finds. Of course, the drawback is that they think they should be the bosses of what they wear each day... hmm...
Speaking of fashion finds... this is exactly the kind of mis-matched little girl that makes me smile. Shea is sporting the boys' old shoes, her jeans, a summer dress and a sweater that was actually mine when I was little. I think only a toddler can pull this off!
Like her brothers, Shea is also in love with the piano. This usually means not allowing Mommy to play solos...EVER. Within about 30 seconds of me starting to play I have three sets of little hands joining in. Oh, joy! :) This also means, in Shea's case, that the piano is just another summit to climb. The other day I literally found her standing on the keys, clapping and cheering herself on. Oh boy...

In early September, we had a late birthday celebration for all three kids. The boys chose the cake they wanted me to make out of a magazine and it was no surprise that it contained more candy than they'd ever seen in one place! It was so fun for them to help me decorate and even more fun for the kids at the party to choose what part of Candy Land they wanted to gobble up.
We also had an ice-cream cone bar with white-chocolate dipped cones. This was to represent Shea's birthday. Of course, with the chaos of children playing and melting ice-cream, we forgot to light the candle and we also forgot to give Shea any cake OR ice-cream!!
Shea and Sylvie... little playmates.

Believe it or not, I didn't really get many photos from the party. I guess that's a sign that we were just too busy having fun!
Here is Shea, after the party, getting her first real taste of birthday cake and jumping for joy!

CHECK THIS OUT!!!!

As usual, I have to STRONGLY URGE everyone to check out Krysten Halek Photography.

She photographed the kids recently and these are a few of the gems that resulted from that session. She is amazing! Anyone who has met my three little busy bodies knows that they are truly TRULY busy. Despite the perpetual ants in their pants (I wouldn't have them any other way, btw), Krysten manages to captures such remarkable moments.

Enjoy!

Another Installment

Great Grandpa and Shea

Jonathan and the boys spent a fantastic afternoon hanging out in their fort.

Love that expression...

Silly Shea

Another morning watering plants with Mimi

The boys really got into a new DVD while we were in Madison. It's called Baby Felix and involves a baby Felix the Cat, using a magic bag to travel into the future and help his adult self out of troubles. A strange and complicated premise for little kids, but they loved it. They could frequently be found carrying their own "magic bags" around, even if they happened to be old purses or baby doll bags. Hee hee.
They also insisted on wearing medals they found among by childhood memorabilia. They insisted they were baseball pennants. Apparently, baby Felix plays baseball, too.

Silly Dex

Jax, sporting another band-aid. The boys are completely obsessed with owies and band-aids. I'm skeptical that there will ever come a day when one of them is not wearing a prized band-aid. Oh, boys!! There was even one day when I found Dexter completely COVERED in them. Now, at least, I have learned to keep them somewhat out of reach!

Me and my baby bro... I'm guessing Jaxon took this photo
