Going through the motions

It doesn't feel right to be resuming old routines... going on with life... but it happens. The children have been great, in this regard. For them, the world hasn't stopped and fun is an essential part of their day. They shower D.R. with love, kisses, hugs and cuddles and that sort of band-aid has a magical effect, even if just for a moment.

In an attempt to find comfort in daily rituals, here are some photos of the kiddos that keep us smiling and oh-so-busy. :) The boys continue to say funnier and funnier things. Their back and forth dialogues with each other are adorable and I love being the silent observer to their brotherly interractions. Shea is recovering from her first ear infection, poor little bug. Despite this hurdle, she is wowing us with her clapping, her growing appetite and her first few assisted steps. She is cautiously cruising furniture and toddling behind the baby walker. Of course, crawling is her preferred mode of transportation, however, as she seems in desperate need to keep up with Dex and Jax. The boys are amazing with her. They protect her when she's in the way of their boy-play, include her when it amuses them and scold her when she tries to get into their precious belongings. It's fun to watch them grow more comfortable in their roles as big brothers.

These photos are from mid-March. The boys found the joy of melting ice and warmer weather. Jax discovered that falling face first in a six-inch deep puddle is not as much fun as jumping around in it. Despite the fact that the boys would spend all day every day outside, we actually heard him scream the words, "I am never playing outside again... EVER!!! I don't like this game!!!" all the way home. Poor little guy.

Show me the money!! Board games continue to be a big hit. We play the kid games and then the boys get out the grown-up games and make up their own rules. On this day, it was a giant game of memory with the money. Of course, they lost steam before they finished setting up the game. Hee. As usual, Shea needed to be part of the action. Good thing they boys had their cash register handy!
